Shopping without payment? ‘Can’t imagine that. But it is the best and easiest way to go if you really want to do without IOU, cash/salary advance, or even credit. You don’t need more debt, trust me u don’t need it.
Have you ever entered a shop (let’s say bookshop, supermarket, etc) after going through the catalog you couldn’t find the item you came for or you found a similitude, but end up buying those things (unplanned for) that appeals to you?
Have you ever heard a song you liked from a music store and make an outright purchase (without thinking or at least smearing the small still voice, if not being a man about it)? If you answer yes to any of the above, I can call you a friend! Because our wants’ degree could be so high at time, especially when it feeds on our love. Do you doubt me, try and see!
DAY ONE
I went to see a movie –alone. You know, “Knight & Day”. A the middle of it, I received a call for duty..am not a workaholic you know..just trying to make ends meet. But by the time I came back to my seat, it’s gone 50mins and I saw the end. At the reception I saw another one, “very interesting” I told myself, imagine
“The Sorcerer’s Apprentice”, gave 1000buck for a 120min show, not too bad. Unfortunately, it have to start by 7:20pm Oh no! I have to walk around the complex, and then to the lifestyle shop. They’ve good and high quality video, audio CD/DVDs and books, including trendy magazines. Wao! It came close,”you need something to improve your life”, “that’s true, but am attending a career improvement course”, “yes, but u need something more, remember the last book u bought here was help ful”, “but I haven’t finished reading it”.“No! you need to expand the knowledge”… It was a struggle until I found the book I love so much..7050bucks, VAT inclusive. Then I walked down to the count and the transaction began:

Then I walked down to the count and the transaction began:
- Me: Can I pay with my debit card?
- Cashier: Ah m! No sir!
- Me: am sorry, I found this book on you shelf but don’t have the complete amount in my pocket to pay.
- Cashier: Oh, don’t worry, you can use the ATM machine within the complex.
- Me: I’ve tried and none is working.
- Cashier: Ok let me see the book. But u can use the Union Bank ATM, it right behind the elevator.
- Me: Ok, maybe I will come back tomorrow for it…I mean, while coming to see a movie tomorrow, I will be picking it.
Nice drama, it was 7:25pm, have to go to screen 4, for the movie; that saved me!
You can never be compelled to buy, even if the offer is right, once its not in budget, believe me it can never be a savings tomorrow, so move on and don’t pay for it. Yes you can abandon the cart. In fact that’s one of the reasons those guys are working, to pick the items from the cart and put them back to the shelf, i.e.they do their job when you shop and don’t pay.
Always weigh the options, think again, merger the reasons why you shouldn’t pay for it. If you cant find, pray that the cashier becomes rude to. You got a reason, you drop the cart and walk away, after all you are a regular
customer, even if you are not, you can walk in tomorrow. Its simple to do but you must decide on how to start.

Don’t buy for pity.
Many people make unplanned purchases from people who enjoy planned sells. Do not buy because you need to
encourage him/her, or because you want people to believe her rap. Drop the cart because you don’t need it!

DAY TWO
Little purchase, further withdrawal! That’s what you experience when you miss appropriate fund. I heard this song from Helen Baylor, and I walked in to the music store,
- Much later, they found a video version (pirated) of the album. I cant buy it pirated,
- They gave me a pirated CD,
- The CD does not contain the full album, but a collection of other copy righted work
so I have to go back to Lifestyle store I have purchased my fare ticket, the bus is waiting...” I can join another one anyway”, extra mile, more expenditure.Lo and behold, I saw the video version(1950bucks VAT inclusive),but I need the audio…may be Larntaner will have it or even Shoprite. A savior came, Larntaner closes by 5pm, it about
6pm and shoprite is far. May be tomorrow after work, I will continue. I still want the CD, but that night, I didn’t visit the ATM again! My gain? Interest on deposit increased! I walked out without making any purchase!

- Think before you make payment, listen to your heart, watch your environment and chat with checkout people
- Abandon the cart when you can (before payment, if possible @Checkout point) even if the food have been dished or wine poured into the glass. Walk out as fast as you can and don’t look back
- Don’t sit when offered one
- Don’t try to impress, you will be oppressed if you do. It comes with a psychological effect.
- Be bold and say NO!
You too can walk on the items, you can shop without payment.
